Pierre Michel Jean est un photojournaliste et réalisateur haïtien de films documentaires. Michel vit à Port-au-Prince et voyage régulièrement dans toute l’île Quisqueya pour les besoins de ses travaux. Il a fait des études en Communication sociale et en Sciences Juridiques à l’Université d’État d’Haïti (UEH). Michel est diplômé de « Haïti Reporters », puis de CEPEC (Centre d’Étude Photographiques et Cinématographiques).
En 2014, Pierre Michel fonde avec des amis le Kolektif 2 Dimansyon (K2D), un regroupement d’artistes visuels et de journalistes haïtiens indépendants qui, depuis 9 ans a édité plusieurs livres et revues. Pierre Michel a collaboré avec l’agence de presse AFP et ses reportages ont été publiées dans des médias internationaux tels que : Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Le Monde, Le Temps, etc.
Depuis 2017, Michel est contributeur régulier de Fotopaklè (la revue de reportages photographiques éditée par le Kolektif 2D). Plusieurs expositions en Haïti comme à l’étranger ont déjà présenté le travail de Pierre Michel. Aujourd’hui, la démarche photographique de Pierre Michel est essentiellement documentaire et veut interroger sur la durée des thématiques telles : notre occupation de l’espace urbain, la mémoire haïtienne quant à certains évènements comme le massacre de 1937 et la frontière dominicano-haitienne comme espace de marge. « L’oubli tue 2 fois » est le titre de son deuxième long métrage documentaire, traitant de la mémoire douloureuse pour les haïtiens du massacre « Perejil ». Ce film devrait être présenté en festival cette année.

Pierre Michel collaborated with the AFP press agency and his reports were published in international media such as: Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Le Monde, Le Temps, etc.
Since 2017, Michel has been a regular contributor to Fotopaklè (the photographic reporting magazine published by Kolektif 2D). Several exhibitions in Haiti and abroad have already presented the work of Pierre Michel. Today, Pierre Michel's photographic approach is essentially documentary and wants to question the duration of themes such as: our occupation of urban space, Haitian memory regarding certain events such as the 1937 massacre and the Dominican-Haitian border as margin space. “Oblivion kills twice” is the title of his second feature documentary, dealing with the painful memory for Haitians of the “Perejil” massacre. This film should be presented at festivals in spring 2024
